After being detained, tortured, and rendered unconscious, a student was allegedly dumped in front of his hostel by Kwara state police command personnel.
The victim, when speaking from the hospital bed, he said he was with two friends when some police officers approached them and told them to get into their car.
According to him, the officers told him and his friend to get into their car after identifying one of the students and asking him to leave.
He claimed that when the officers asked for their phones, they turned them over.
The officers allegedly turned to his friend and questioned him about why he wasn’t into “Yahoo Yahoo” after searching their phones but not turning up anything suspicious.
The victim claimed that after telling his friend not to respond to the question, the officers became enraged and allegedly started beating him.
He claimed that after bringing them to the station and taking their phones, the officers threw them into a cell.
The young man claimed that after going unconscious inside the cell, the officers separated him, took him to his hostel, and dumped him there.
The caretaker of the hostel confirmed the incident and said the officers did not move as they saw him rushing the victim to the hospital.
The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi while reacting to the allegations, said;
‘‘This allegation would be thoroughly investigated, it is very unprofessional if it truly happened the way the story was painted. I can assure you guys the needful would be done. Dm me the name and address of the hostel and hospital please.”
