For disrespecting a deceased lady, a court in Kano State‘s Unguwar Gama area sentenced Abdullahi Umar to 27 months in jail and 40 cane strokes.
Following the release of a popular TikTok video depicting Abdullahi hurling insults at the grave of his friend’s deceased mother, the Kano State Police Command detained Abdullahi last month.
Widely shared video shows Abdullahi demeaning the person buried inside a grave while standing on top of it.
“This is the grave of Mai Abun Duniya’s mother,” he said while pointing at her grave. “And just like her son came to our home and abused my mother, I am here exactly to abuse his parents,” he said in a pejorative manner.
In the video, he was also heard urging his opponent to meet him in the graveyard so they could resolve their differences.
At the time this report was filed, details were still hazy, but it was learned that he was sentenced on Friday, September 16, 2022.
