Osun State Police Command has denied claims that All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s convoy was attacked in the state.
The command, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, SP Yemisi Oplalola, stated on Sunday that its attention had been called to the story making the rounds and video circulating on social media that; Osun Youths assaulted Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s convoy on Saturday.
The command clarified that the trending video on social media was the attack on Osun State Governor Oyetola Gboyega’s convoy by EndSARS protesters about two years ago, on October 17, 2020, not October 8, 2022, as was falsely shared.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, (now AIG), wishes to state that the news/video is misinforming and misleading, which is a calculated attempt to cause apprehension or state of insecurity in the state by some unscrupulous elements.
“To put the record straight, I wish to inform you that Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not come to Osun State for any program of late at all,” the statement read.
As a result, Olokode urged the people of the state to dismiss the information and go about their businesses without fear of insecurity, because adequate security measures to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order are in place.
