The family of Mrs. Funke Ayodele, a businesswoman and owner of the well-known grocery “Cheapest Ladies and Kiddies Place” in Lokoja, has been contacted by her abductors.
According to reports, the kidnappers called her family on Friday and demanded N30 million as ransom to release her.
Her family was told on Saturday that if the ransom sought was not paid by Sunday at midnight, her abductors would raise the demand.
A source said that on Thursday night, her kidnappers used a mobile phone to contact the family and discuss their demands before they would release her.
On Wednesday night, after closing her store, Mrs. Funke Ayodele was kidnapped by the gunmen in front of her home near the Baptist Church, next to Dunamis Church, on the Ganaja-Lokoja Road.
Around 9 o’clock that fateful day, four criminals with guns leapt on her, grabbed her from her car, and took her to an unknown location, according to a family source.
According to the Daily Trust, the kidnapper’s call seemed to have given the family some peace after the tragedy because she was reportedly having frequent high blood seizures.
Her relatives said that her attackers had been pursuing her for days before they finally caught up with her on Wednesday night.
When reached to corroborate the occurrence, SP William Ovye-Aya, spokesman for Kogi State Police Command, did not answer calls or texts.
