A Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state, issued a ruling that recognized Bashir Machina as the candidate for Yobe North’s Senate seat.
Justice Fadima Murtala Aminu directed the All Progressives Congress to notify the Independent and National Electoral Commission that Machina was the legitimate winner of the primary held on May 28, 2022.
According to The Nation, the high court judge called the party’s primary election in which Senate President Ahmad Lawan won the nomination for senator a “phantom.”
