Nigerian-born US Soldier Sends Strong Message To Sheikh Gumi After Airstrike On ISIS Terrorists In Sokoto
Share

A Nigerian man serving in the United States Army has stirred online reactions after directing a message at prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, following the confirmation of U.S. airstrikes on ISIS terrorist bases in Sokoto State.

The development comes amid heightened talks over U.S. involvement in Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts and renewed statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who vowed to eliminate threats against Christians and other civilians targeted by extremist groups.

Sheikh Gumi had recently drawn public attention after openly condemning the U.S. strike, warning against foreign military involvement in Nigeria and criticising the federal government for not seeking assistance from countries such as Turkey and Pakistan instead.

His comments sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms.

Reacting to the cleric’s stance, the Nigerian-born U.S. soldier, identified online as @Horiyourme, shared a photo from a video message of Sheikh Gumi.

Sharing the photo, he captioned …

‘Update on @POTUS air strike:

First you deliver the baby, then you get the placenta.
Sheik Gumi, your days are numbered.”

His remarks quickly went viral, generating mixed reactions from Nigerians at home and abroad, with supporters and critics engaging in heated exchanges in the comment sections.

@0xjabdul noted: “Please remove that Sheik in his name. I don’t trust him to be a Sheikh.”

@damtosfashion pleaded: “Pls help us deal with this man ooo. He’s been a reason for more active activities of this people.”

@OloriSiji1 asked: “You still dey respect am,hand go touch him soon.”

@MichaelNavy_24 wrote: “Nah wetin I dey tell someone like this now wey be say Mr Ben don dey put eyes for the matter e don be for am.”
