Preparations are in top gear for the grand reunion and annual general meeting of alumni of St Charles Grammar School Osogbo, Osun State.
The reunion party of St Charles Old Boys Association (SCOBA) ’97 Set is scheduled to hold on the 18th Saturday, December 2021.
According to a statement from their coordinator, Mr Adekilekun Aderemi said that the reunion programme is part of activities of the alumni aimed at fostering bonds among old classmates and a platform to deliberate on issues affecting their alma matter and give back to the school and society in general.
When speaking to Naijalamp Media, Mr Adekilekun said: “It doesn’t matter, maybe not all of us are successful as others, but it doesn’t make any difference. We just want to get together, chat and share sweet old memories”.
St. Charles’ Grammar School Osogbo was established in 1960 by the Catholic Community of Oyo Diocese under the leadership of His Grace, The Rt. Rev. Owen McCoy (then Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese). The Osogbo community was also enthused by this development and volunteered quantity of land the school desired.
The school was staffed initially by expatriates and was founded with such energy and vision rode many innovative first waves within the first few years of its inception. It has maintained such prance and bounce since its emergence in academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities. In 1962, this school initially named after a European Catholic Saints (St. Charles Borromeo) was presented with a medal from Pope Paul VI (then Cardinal Montini) during his visit to Africa.
