The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun state has appointed Barrister Wale Ojo as the new Acting Chairman amid its internal crisis.
The appointment was based on the ratification of a resolution by some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State.
Naijalamp learnt that it was intended to fill the vacuum created by the exit of Soji Adagunodo, who recently assumed the office of the Vice-Chairman, South-West Zone, of the party.
The Acting Chairman, Barrister Wale Ojo, a former senator representing Osun East Senatorial district, reportedly belongs to the Olasoji Adagunodo faction of the party in the state.
His appointment was reportedly validated by the presence of all the local government areas in the state, as well as the verdict of an Osun State High Court, which recognised and affirmed the actions of the outgoing chairman, Olasoji Adagunodo.
In Ojo’s acceptance speech, the new Acting Chairman said that it was time for party members to work together as one big family. He also promised to ensure members were on the same page.
He also vowed to use his position to push the party over the edge.
Meanwhile, the embattled chairman of the party in the state, Sunday Bisi had described the action of the
Soji Adagunodo faction as a charade.
In a statement made available by the Media Director of the party, Bamidele Olabamiji, Bisi said his legal team was studying the court judgment in order to appeal the order which nullified him as the substantive chairman of the party in the state.
Bisi referred to the referendum that ratified Wale Ojo as Acting Chairman as a kangaroo selection process, he asserted that still remains the party chairman in the state as he accused the organisers of the referendum of
selecting biased stakeholders.
Olabamiji added that the individuals who branded themselves as stakeholders should not be seen and taken seriously.
Four of the aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket for the next year’s gubernatorial election in the State, Sanya Omirin, Akin Ogunbiyi, Alhaji Fatal Akinbade, and Dele Adeleke were present at the meeting which made Wale Ojo the substantive chairman.
