The Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran also known as Jandor has opened up on the reason he chose Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his running mate.
It was earlier reported that some Nigerians had made a mockery of Jandor after fielding the Nollywood actress as his running mate, stating that the decision showed he was unserious.
However, while speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Jandor disclosed the reason he picked the mother of two as his running mate.
The politician explained that one of the reasons he chose Funke was because he does not want someone who is unknown and follow the political path where the people can’t remember who the deputy governor is.
He then said that “I chose Funke because she will add value to my ticket, she is a Lagosian, a successful employer of labor, and age is on our side.” He also clarified that Funke is not coming in as an actress, but as a valuable person willing to serve.
He went on to state that those who chose to laugh at his choice forget that Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot also holds a political office.
Jandor also spoke on the challenges he faced since he became a gubernatorial candidate, which includes the tampering of campaign materials.
