Segun Oladipupo, a 40-year-old mechanic, and two others were detained in Osun by men of the Western Nigeria Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, for allegedly stealing 18 goats.
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Tuesday, Field Commandant of Osun Amotekun Corps Amitolu Shittu said that the suspect and two others, Wale Samuel and Sulemon Garuba, were detained early in the morning after Oyo State Amotekun operatives alerted the Osun command that some criminals were dealing in goat theft.
Osun Amotekun sprang into action and stormed some locations where Segun Oladipulo and Wale Samuel were picked up with a space bus they are using for the criminal operation. Shittu explained that the suspects were using the space bus bought by their buyer who is now on the run to carry out the evil act.
“The suspects use beans and onions to cover those goats which according to suspects were picked at different locations in Osogbo and Ibadan. We were notified by some operatives in Ibadan, Oyo State that some criminal are engaging in stealing of goats. We decided to burst some places and discovered some suspects with a bus carrying goats. They put beans and onion to cover them, during interrogation they confessed to have stolen them”.
Speaking to reporters, the three suspects acknowledged committing the crime together and said they had been in the business for a while. They also admitted that it was their third time stealing goats and transporting them.
