On September 7, three students from the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam Campus, were found dead in their hostel.
According to reports, the deceased students, identified as Emmanuella, a business administration student, Mercy, a pharmacy student, and 200-level political science student Obidiaso Chidera, were found dead at the Goodluck Hostel in Anambra State.
Eyewitnesses said that the three students’ bodies were discovered when some other students who had not seen them inquired at the lodge.
After knocking on the door repeatedly and getting no response, the students decided to bust it open. When they opened it, they discovered three dead bodies—two on the beds in the room and one in the kitchen.
In a statement made public, the school administration verified the occurrence but expressed disbelief that some students were still residing in their hostels after the school had already closed in August.
Security personnel are looking into the situation, according to school officials, and the findings will be made public.
Confirming the incident to LIB, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said;
”Investigation has since commenced and the bodies have been recovered. We also recovered substances suspected to be drugs and our forensic operatives have taken over the crime scene as the Commissioner ordered immediate transfer of the case to SCID for a comprehensive investigation.”
