On Monday, world leaders gathered in London for the late Queen of England Elizabeth II’s burial.
Around 500 international dignitaries attended the burial of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey.
According to Naijalamp, the historic event was attended by international leaders from all walks of life, including Commonwealth members, Heads of State, Governors-General, Prime Ministers, and foreign royal families.
The Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday represented President Muhammadu Buhari who is in New York, USA to participate in the 77th United Nations general assembly (UNGA).
The President of the United State of America, Joe Biden was in attendance at the funeral.
However, according to Daily Express, three countries and their leaders were reportedly barred from attending the late Queen’s funeral in London on Monday.
The countries that were denied access to the historic event includes:
1. Russia (Vladimir Putin)
2. Belarus (Aleksandr Lukashenko)
3. Myanmar (Myint Swe)
For Iran, it was only allowed to be represented at the occasion on an ambassadorial level.
Daily Express noted that Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei continues to have sour relations with the United Kingdom.
While the President of Russia was reportedly hindered from attending the event due to the invasion of Ukraine by his troops.
Belarus leader, Alexander Lukashenko was snubbed due to his friendship with Russian president Putin.
On the part of Myanmar, their Military chiefs have been accused by the United Nations of “depraved” acts of violence against opposition democracy activists.
