A lawyer from Calabar named Barrister Sunny Bassey is reported to be in a coma as a result of the trauma caused by the loss of his wife, who apparently perished in a car accident while chasing his vehicle in Cross River.
Recall that Clara Bassey, an Igbo lawyer, perished on the Murtala Muhammed Highway in Calabar after her car went off the road into a ditch as she was allegedly monitoring over her husband’s movements with his side chick.
Her husband drove off before learning what had transpired since he was unaware that his wife had noticed him and was pursuing his car.
According to a family friend of the couple who spoke to newsmen about the event on the condition of anonymity said Bassey’s coma was brought on by the shock of his wife’s death.
She added that Bassey felt bad about what he had done and that the remorse seemed to have overwhelmed him.
The source said, “We learnt that because of the shock the man went into a coma, and some of friends got him out of the house with the kids because he cannot be alone, being that not quite long he suffered from a stroke.”
She added that his health condition has deteriorated since the incident, but his family members are trying to help him survive so he can take care of his little children.
Explaining the drama that led to her death, the source told Whistler, “Though I am not acquainted with the wife and the side chick, but, the husband attends Lawyers Weekend Workouts with my husband, which sometimes I used to attend, since they are allowed to bring their spouses.
