On Monday, Prince Gboyega Famoodun, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, purportedly emerged as the new Owa of Igbajo.
Famoodun was elected by the kingmakers, and the election was later approved by the State Executive Council at their meeting.
Prince Famoodun’s appointment means he will succeed the late Oba Olufemi Fasade, who died in December 2020.
Father of the Owa-Elect, Oba Adelani Famoodun, occupied the throne before the late Oba Fasade.
The former Osun State Commissioner for Information, who is also an indigene of Igbajo, Sunday Akere, confirmed Famoodun’s election by the kingmakers and his appointment by the state government.
