The Osun State Government has opened up on the purported withdrawal of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s security detail by the Department of State Service.

On Saturday, a group called ‘Osun Shall Rise Again’ alleged that the DSS leadership had withdrew personnel assigned to Adeleke due to a dispute.

OSRA made the announcement in an Osogbo statement signed by its Secretary and Chairman, Saheed Bakare and Lanre Akeju, respectively.

The organization further claimed that DSS conducted the action after Adeleke made “unguarded utterances” in front of the personnel assigned to work with him.

The statement further read in part, “The development angered the DSS headquarters and after making contacts, they decided to withdraw their personnel.

“After the withdrawal, the governor apparently realising his mistakes decided to reach out to plead. He is being expected in Abuja on Monday, where he will be explaining himself and reassure the DSS that he can be trusted.”

But when contacted, the spokesperson for the governor, Olawale Rasheed, said there was no crises regarding the governor’s security team.

He further said, “the Executive Governor is still setting up his team from security to other areas of the new government. Many issues are being addressed.

“So on this particular one, I can assure you there is nothing like crisis or otherwise. If there is an inter-agency rivalry, relevant authorities will address it.

“I can assure the public that there is no cause for alarm. This administration is still at a formative stage.”

Speaking further on Sunday, Rasheed said, “The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a report on the alleged withdrawal of security personnel from Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“We want to clarify that it is a minor disagreement between officers of the Department of State Service and the police.

“The matter has been reported to the headquarters of the two security agencies for resolution. The issue is being sorted out.

“We reassure members of the public that there is no cause for alarm. Your governor is fully secured and governance is proceeding without let or hindrance.”
