A 78-year-old retiree shot and k!lled a 15-year-old boy who tried to rob him outside his home in Buenos Aires, Argentina, shocking video shows.
The viral surveillance video shows the moment the teenager and his accomplices pull up in a van next to the elderly man as he is preparing to exit his white Toyota Hilux near his home last Monday, Jan, 27, night, local outlet Page 12 reported.
The teenager quickly leaps out of the van before it can even come to a full stop next to the white car, with the boy seen aiming what appears to be a handgun at the Toyota driver, according to the clip.
As the teen tries to open the driver’s door, the 78-year-old man pulls out a .357 Magnum pistol and fires at the boy, k!lling him, police said.
The teenage suspect drops to the ground, with the van rushing away as the elderly man fires another shot at the boy on the ground, the footage shows.
He then steps out of the car and fires two more rounds at the van before turning back, according to the video.
Police said the man fired a total of five times at his assailants, with the 15-year-old hit in the skull and chest.
The teenager, who was described by a friend online as a “great person,” was holding a fake gun meant to resemble a gray .22-caliber mini Bersa Thunder, Page 12 reported.
Investigators said they are still on the hunt for the two other people who were in the van at the time of the attempted robbery.
The Departmental Investigations Directorate is treating the case as an aggravated robbery conducted by suspected gang members, officials added.
Local prosecutor Diego Rulli, who is in charge of the case, will not seek charges against the 78-year-old man, who he said acted in clear self-defense with a weapon that he is licensed to carry and use.
The shooting sent shockwaves throughout Buenos Aires as it was the second such case to happen in January 2025. In the first, another minor was shot and k!lled after attempting to steal a motorcycle in the La Tablada neighborhood.
