A Nigerian assistant surgeon has sparked conversation online after sharing a photo of herself using a phone torchlight during a surgical procedure following a power outage.

The incident was revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the user @mama_rokky, who expressed her excitement about assisting in the surgery.

She captioned the post: “I WAS THE ASSISTANT SURGEON TODAY!! 😊” alongside a photo showing an ongoing medical procedure, believed to involve an animal, as stitching was in progress.

What caught the attention of many was the visible use of a phone torchlight to illuminate the surgical area.

Reacting to the buzz, she wrote: “This is Nigeria! I don’t know why most of you are surprised!”
