Peter Obi Finally Reveals Plan After Supreme Court Ruling

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has officially submitted his one-term presidency proposal to the coalition for review.

This was revealed by Yunusa Tanko, national coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide.

Recall that Peter Obi had announced on Monday his willingness to serve only one term if elected president in 2027.

He emphasized that any southern candidate winning the presidency should adhere to stepping down by May 28, 2031, respecting the unwritten power-sharing agreement and zoning principle.

Obi has allied with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, ex-transport minister Rotimi Amaechi, and former Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai to form a coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election.

The coalition has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their platform.

Speaking at a chieftaincy event in Gombe, Tanko said Obi’s one-term proposal has been presented to the coalition members, who will decide its adoption.

Tanko expressed confidence in Obi’s integrity and the effectiveness of the plan.

Although the one-term presidency is not constitutionally mandated, Obi believes four years is sufficient to deliver his agenda.

Tanko highlighted Obi’s focus on key issues like stabilizing electricity, which he says would solve many challenges.

Obi also promises to revive Nigeria’s economy to the extent that the country becomes an exporter again, and that airplanes will no longer depart Nigerian airports empty.
