BREAKING: Anambra Governor Sacks Vigilantes Behind Viral Video Of Corps Member Assault (Photos)

The Anambra State Government has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security outfit following the brutal assault and public stripping of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Jennifer Elobor.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday by Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, at the agency’s headquarters in Awka.

He explained that the government acted promptly after receiving reports of the incident and would hand the dismissed operatives over to the police for prosecution.

“The officers were pursuing suspected cultists on Tuesday when they attacked the corps member, an action totally outside the mandate of the agency and utterly condemnable,” Emeakayi said.

He stressed that the Soludo administration would not tolerate unprofessionalism, brutality, or abuse of office by security operatives.

“Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution,” he added.

Despite requests from the victim’s family and NYSC officials for a quiet resolution, the government insisted on a full investigation to ensure accountability and deter future misconduct.

Emeakayi confirmed that the victim’s medical bills had been fully settled, her damaged belongings, including a laptop and phone, replaced, and a public apology tendered to her, her family, NYSC, and the public.

The government also emphasized that the incident would serve as a turning point for reforming the security outfit and restoring public confidence in community security operations.

“This administration is committed to professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights in all security engagements,” Emeakayi said.

Attempts to confirm whether the operatives had been formally handed over to the police were unsuccessful.
