Fayose Reveals Governors Planning To Dump PDP

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday, hinted that the few governors remaining in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are considering dumping the party.

He, however, did not drop specific names in his claim.

He made the claim while featuring in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Fayose added that the PDP is a dead party and he wouldn’t be among those who will resurrect the main opposition party in Nigeria.

According to the former Governor, President Bola Tinubu can not be blamed for the crisis rocking the PDP.

Specifically, Fayose submitted that it would be unfair to blame Tinubu for the recent defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Duoye Diri.

It would be recalled that Mbah, on Tuesday, formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement took place at the Enugu State Government House and had in attendance several leaders and stalwarts of the APC at the national and state levels.

Speaking at the event, Governor Mbah said he defected because of the need to align Enugu State with the centre and strengthen the potential of the state.

He noted that leaving PDP was a difficult but necessary decision and urged the people of the state to continue to support him.

On his part, Diri, who announced his defection on Wednesday at the exco chamber in the Bayelsa State Government House, did not state the political party that he will be moving to.

His decision was backed by 23 members of the House of Assembly, led by the Speaker.

According to a post on Facebook by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the governor resigned from the PDP with the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, along with all the PDP members in the state legislature.
