Tensions between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, appear to have eased as the Kogi lawmaker extended an invitation to him and other senators for a project commissioning in her senatorial district.

The invitation, personally signed by Akpoti-Uduaghan, was read during plenary by Akpabio.

The event, billed for Sunday in Ihima, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, is part of activities marking her second year in the Senate.

“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter read.

The letter noted that the meeting point for the event would be her residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State.

It also advised senators traveling by air to make use of the Obajana Airstrip before continuing the journey to Ihima by road.

Upon reading the letter, Akpabio congratulated the lawmaker, saying simply: “Congratulations in advance.”

The invitation signals a significant thaw in relations between the two senators following a high-profile clash earlier in the year.

In February, a disagreement over seat re-allocation escalated into a six-month suspension of Akpoti-Uduaghan on March 6.

She, however, resumed her duties on September 24, and has since been making gradual moves to rebuild her working relationship with the Senate leadership.
