Nigerian media personality, Chinedu Ani has alleged that some young women in Lagos get pregnant on purpose just to add weight.
He made the claim during his show on Max 102.3 FM, where he spoke about what he described as a growing trend among very slim ladies.
He said he had heard cases of women who choose pregnancy mainly to gain body mass.
He said that the weight that comes with pregnancy is believed to be their main goal.
According to him, some of them later terminate the pregnancy after reaching the size they want.
He said: “The one way girls dey do now for Nigeria… some very slim girls, I’ve heard girls do it.
“When they want to add weight, what they do is they get pregnant.
“Once they get pregnant, dem don come add weight, pregnancy weight, then they will now terminate the pregnancy.”
His statement sparked reactions, with many people sharing their own experiences and agreeing with his claim.
