Abubakar Abdullahi, a renowned Imam in Nigeria’s Nghar village, Plateau State, who saved hundreds of Christians inside a mosque while they fled from bloodthirsty herders dies at the age of 92.
Abubakar Abdullahi gained local and international recognition for his bravery in June 2018.
He sheltered more than 262 Christians inside his mosque and home during the conflict at the Barkin Ladi local government, Jos, Plateau state, to shield them from murderous herdsmen.
In 2019, his selfless commitment to religious freedom earned him “International Religious Freedom Award” from the U.S. State
The Nigerian government additionally bestowed upon him a national honour in 2022.
Abdullahi passed away at Plateau Specialist Hospital in Jos on Thursday night due to a heart condition.
Following Juma’at prayers, the cleric’s family buried him in Nghar village on Friday.
