A state of emergency has been announced in Arad, a city in southern Israel, after a missile attack linked to Iran left many people injured.
According to Al Jazeera, emergency responders were attending to at least 70 victims following the strike.
Medical teams and rescue workers were quickly dispatched to various parts of the city to manage the situation and assist those affected.
The attack caused fear among residents, as warning sirens were heard moments before the missile landed.
Naija News reports that some buildings in the area were damaged, while search operations continued to check for more victims.
Ambulances moved injured persons to hospitals nearby, and some of them were said to be in critical condition.
The incident adds to the growing tension between Iran and Israel, with both sides involved in ongoing attacks in recent days.
Areas in the southern part of Israel have faced repeated strikes, raising worries about the safety of residents and the strain on the country’s defence systems.
In other news, the British government authorised the United States on Friday to use military bases in Britain to strike Iranian missile sites attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz, a decision that prompted Iran to warn the move constitutes “participation in aggression.”
According to a British spokesperson, ministers met on Friday to discuss the war with Iran and Iran’s blocking of the Strait of Hormuz.
