A group of young women in Asaba, Delta State, have stirred conversation online after lamenting what they describe as a noticeable decline in romantic approaches from men in public places.
The women, who shared their frustration in a viral post over the weekend, linked the shift to Nigeria’s current economic hardship, saying it has affected social confidence and dating culture.
According to them, outings that once attracted friendly interactions now feel uneventful despite their efforts to appear attractive.
“God abeg o dem no dey toast person again? With all the make up and cloth we no even see person wey say hi. Those days if you go big supermarket go buy something you go see person wey go greet you. My make up don waste. Boy no dey look girl again o. Nigeria don hard reach like that? Are you people blind? I no understand o,” one of the ladies lamented.
“We don waka the full Asaba nobody go toast you. I think say I go see man wey go ask me out so that my birthday go sweet. Nigeria don hard o dem no dey toast person again o, God abeg,” another lady added.
With inflation and job instability affecting disposable income, some men reportedly feel less inclined to initiate conversations that could lead to financial expectations.
