The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced 150 as the cut-off mark for admission into universities for the 2026/27 academic session.
JAMB announced this during its policy meeting in Abuja on Monday, where it said the decision followed a vote of vice-chancellors available at the meeting.
The policy meeting was also attended by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa and other stakeholders in the country’s education sector.
The meeting also agreed on 100 as the cut-off mark for polytechnic admission and 150 for Colleges of Nursing.
Earlier, Naija News had reported that the federal government has announced that candidates seeking admission into Federal Colleges of Education will no longer be required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, announced the policy change on Monday at the 2026 Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja.
Alausa said the exemption would also apply to candidates seeking admission into programmes in technology, agriculture and related courses.
He explained that the move was aimed at easing access to critical education and skills-based programmes.
The minister, however, said affected candidates must possess the required basic O’Level qualifications.
In a related development, JAMB has announced that candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture-related non-engineering courses will no longer be required to sit for UTME.
The board disclosed this in a post shared on its official 𝕏 handle on Monday during its ongoing policy meeting on admissions.
