The Presidency has berated Nigerians who are Master’s degree and PhD holders engaging in menial jobs like housekeeping and warehouse keeping in the United Kingdom (UK).
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, during an interview on ‘The Morayo Podcast Show’ on Wednesday, said that working in care homes with an educational qualification is modern-day slavery.
According to Bwala, some Nigerians who feel they are suffering in the country are doing better than those who travelled abroad many years ago.
He said, “Some of you Nigerians, who think you are suffering, you’re better off than your colleagues that traveled out five years ago.
“I am a resident of the United Kingdom. A Nigerian that finished with first class or second class, now moves to the UK, and then adds another degree only to be working at care homes.
“As far as I am concerned, it’s a modern-day slavery, and I will tell you today. It’s less than house girl, because there are certain things that a house girl cannot do.”
In other news, Bwala has accused Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi of showing displeasure whenever Nigeria records progress under the current government.
He made the remarks in a post shared on 𝕏.
The presidential aide said Obi often reacts negatively to developments in the country despite seeking to lead it in the future.
He questioned why positive changes in governance would lead to criticism from the former Anambra governor.
Bwala also claimed that Obi has changed positions on key national issues.
According to him, Obi had earlier expressed support for policies such as fuel subsidy removal, state policing, and a unified foreign exchange system before the 2023 elections, but now appears to oppose them after the current administration introduced them.
