The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Borno youth leader, Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, following a controversial interview on Channels Television where he made startling claims about the release of abducted victims in Borno State.
During the interview, Kaigama alleged that ₦5 billion was paid to Boko Haram to secure the freedom of abducted women and children from Ngoshe. He further claimed that Senator Ali Ndume was involved in handling part of the money.
However, the Borno State Government has strongly denied the allegations, maintaining that no ransom was paid. According to the state authorities, the victims were rescued through a coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out by the military and the DSS.
Not long after the interview was aired, DSS operatives reportedly took Kaigama into custody for questioning. While reports suggest investigators are probing the claims he made during the broadcast, the agency has not officially confirmed that his arrest was directly linked to the allegations or released details of the specific offences under investigation.
