“I Thought She Meant It” – Man Cries Out After Being Slapped By Neighbour Who Always Call Him “My Husband” (Video)

A Nigerian man has sparked reactions on social media after sharing a humorous story about how he misunderstood a neighbour’s greetings.

In a video making the rounds online, the man jokingly recounted how he believed a woman in his neighbourhood was genuinely referring to him as her husband whenever she greeted him.

Speaking in the video, the man explained that he had always heard some women in his area greeting him as “Baalé mi” and “Okomi,” meaning “my husband.”

Mistaking the friendly greetings for romantic interest, he decided to visit one of the women later that night.

According to him, when he arrived at the woman’s house, she welcomed him as usual by calling him “Okomi” and asking if everything was alright.

He then jokingly replied that he had come to spend the night with his wife.

However, the woman was reportedly shocked by the statement and immediately asked who he was referring to as his wife.

The man said she then slapped him and questioned whether he was in his right sense.

He added that the woman followed him to his house and reported the incident to his mother after the misunderstanding.

In his words: “Me, I don’t know anything o. So, those women in the area that normally greet someone as ‘Baalé mi, Okomi’ (my husband), I thought it was real.

Yesterday, one woman in our area that normally calls me ‘Baalé mi o, Okomi o’… I went to meet her in her house last night.

She said, ‘Okomi, I see you this night, hope all is well?’

I told her I came to sleep with my wife, only for her to ask, ‘Who is your wife?’

Then she gave me a dirty slap.

I asked her, ‘Aren’t you the one that normally calls me your husband?’

She said, ‘Hope your head is correct?’ Then she followed me to our house to report me to my mother.

So, this thing is not real. Please, if your mummy is among those who are fond of saying such things, tell them to stop.”
