A lawsuit filed by the Federal Government to extradite suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Abba Kyari to the United States of America was dismissed by Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Judge ruled on Monday that the Federal Government’s extradition request, made by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), was without basis and subject to rejection.
In order to facilitate Kyari’s extradition to America to answer to fraud allegations, the Federal Government filed the extradition charges against him.
However, Justice Ekwo ruled that because Abba Kyari was already on trial in Nigeria for the accusations made against him in America, the Federal Government lacked any justification for requesting his extradition.
