On Monday, September 19, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offenses Court sentenced kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a. Evans, and his co-defendant, Victor Aduba, to 21 years in prison for the kidnapping of one Sylvanus Ahanonu Hafia and demanding $420,000 in ransom from his family.
On June 23, 2014, at around 5:30 p.m., near Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos, they were accused of conspiring and kidnaping Hafia.
They were accused of holding the victim hostage and demanding a $2 million ransom in exchange for his release.
Despite their declaration of innocence to all four accusations, the judge found them guilty.
The judge held that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to other aspiring kidnappers.
